Why a Traineeship?

Traineeships were developed to enable 16-23 year olds, who have not yet been able to enter the labour market, to do so.

The programme involves work experience, work preparation training, maths and English.

The aim of the programme is to find learners permanent employment and progression onto an Apprenticeship.

Work Preparation Training

During this element of the traineeship, learners will work towards:

  • Creating a CV
  • Gaining useful interview skills
  • Improving confidence
  • Team building skills
  • Career Planning 
  • Learning from work placement 
  • Exploring job opportunities
Business Admin

Work Experience

Over the course of the 6 month programme you will gain valuable work experince from a valued employer. The employer will assist in making sure that you have the necessary skills to move forward in your chosen vocational area.

An assessor from your chosen vocational area will come out and see you at your placement provider to ensure you are gaining the skills needed for your chosen industry.


English & Maths

Learners are required to undertake Maths and English qualifications whilst on a traineeship unless they have the GCSE grade A*-C / Functional Skill Level 2 exemptions.

1 days attendance per week is required for this element.
