Training with CMS opens the door to a wide variety of jobs and can help with your career progression, including in roles such as business administration and management.

Which business and management qualifications can you take through CMS?

These range from Level 2 up to Level 7 Diplomas, as follows:

 

Business Administration: An Overview  

A Diploma in Business Administration can open the door to a broad range of industries, whether you progress to working for an SME or a multi-national, in the public, private or charitable sector.

This apprenticeship will usually require 12 to 18 months to complete. 

Requirements of this role

Excellent communication skills; producing work of a high standard; ability to use initiative and take a proactive approach; working autonomously and as part of a team; developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services; working across teams and supporting different parts of the organisation; interacting with customers. Plus using IT packages, managing databases and data analysis; producing and maintaining reports, records, correspondence and other documents.

Other benefits of the training: 

Acquiring highly transferable skills, including the ability to be flexible and respond to issues that arise, time management, plus problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills.

Can lead to:

Senior roles in business administration; management positions.

Team Leader/Supervisor – an overview

This Level 3 Diploma leads to a first-line management role, responsible for managing people and/or projects. Again, this could be in any size company or organisation. While the requirements to take the apprenticeship would usually be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher, this can vary from one employer to the next.

Completion time is 12-18 months.

Requirements of this role:

Managing and delivering projects; setting goals; managing budgets; guiding and supporting team members to achieve goals, while monitoring their workloads and conducting appraisals; trouble shooting; performance improvement; delivering presentations and chairing meetings.

Other benefits of the training: 

Learning how to manage conflict and resolve problems, give constructive feedback and build relationships; understanding different leadership and learning styles and organisational cultures; developing interpersonal and leadership skills, including how to be fair, consistent and impartial.

Can lead to:

Occupations such as Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor or Manager. Candidates can register as Associate members with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).

Operations/Departmental Manager – an overview

This Level 5 Diploma leads to a role where you will manage teams and/or projects, as well as meeting goals and objectives. Again, this could be in any size company operating in any sector. Employers will typically require five GCSEs at Grade C or higher for a candidate to take on this apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship will usually require 12 to 24 months to complete depending on level of experience and previous learning. 

Requirements of this role:

The ability to manage resources and to understand management models and business development tools; setting and monitoring objectives, targets and KPIs; project management; budget management and forecasting; data analysis; preparing reports; contingency planning; leading and motivating staff; managing conflict and change;

All of our Leadership and Management (L&M) qualifications are accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This gives learners affiliate membership and access to ManagementDirect: a vast online resource library, to assist with their development. Developing interpersonal and leadership skills, time management, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills, collaborative working.

Can lead to:

Management positions such as Department Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager in a wide variety of organisations. Once apprentices have qualified, they can register as full members with the Charted Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management.
